We all love to take vacations. The feeling of getting out of our home town, taking a break from the office and exploring new places and sites is one thing we could never get sick of. If you want to take a vacation but you’re on a tight budget you can still do so! Consider a few of these tips to make your vacation a frugal spending one.
How to Plan a Frugal Vacation:
Budget: The first step you want to take is to set a budget. If you only have $500 to spend make that $500 last. Plan how much it’s going to cost to get there and back, how much food will cost, plan for the unexpected expenses and a few attractions and places you want to check out.
Cash only: If you really want to discipline yourself only bring your debit card. This will set the limit for you and force you to save money. Although, it is good to bring a back up credit not to use but just in case an emergency.
Breakfast: Make sure you take advantage of cheap hotels that offer free breakfast. Fill up on this as much as you can and get your money’s worth.
Groceries: Buying your own groceries from the start is the best way to save money. Avoid going out to dinner and spending $10 a plate when you can eat at home for just a few bucks.
City: If you’re planning on going to a city avoid getting a rental car. You will be getting a lot of exercise and will be able to walk everywhere you want to go.
Location: Location is everything. If you planned a trip to Florida to see the ocean, don’t get a hotel that is right on it. Instead go back a few streets and you will be able to save a ton of money since it’s not oceanfront. Location is everything when it comes to dining, traveling and hotels.
Planning a cheap vacation isn’t hard to do at all. The most important thing though is to have discipline. Set the price, bring a debit card, be as cheap as possible and think about everything you buy before you buy it.
